Opportunity

The Engineer will serve as a Guidance Navigation Control (GNC) / Modeling Simulation Engineer supporting the Targets and Countermeasures Engineering (TCE) Technical Team in all aspects of mission modeling simulation and analysis. The modeling activities include developing 3DOF/6DOF kinematic models, guidance, navigation control (GNC) system models, solid/liquid propulsion models, and coordinate frame transformations of the target vehicle to assess compliance to flight test requirements. These models are used to support mission planning, mission design reviews, and test reports. Familiarity with systems engineering practices and current target missile systems is strongly preferred.

More specific responsibilities include:

·Perform detailed MS engineering analyses in support of the MDA/TCE Tech Team

·Work under demanding deadlines and on multiple simultaneous mission analyses

·Communicate efficiently, verbally and in writing, both within MDA as well as with SMEs in external organizations

Requirements

·BS degree in aerospace engineering or related field

·5-10 years experience in aerospace or related engineering programs

··2+ years in defense/missile programs developing missile simulations

·Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency, BMDS

·Comprehensive understanding of 6DOF translational and rotational dynamics (quaternion-, direction cosine-, and Euler angle-based) in both rotating and non-rotating frames of reference is preferred

·Aerodynamic modeling of sub-/trans-/super-/hypersonic vehicles.

·Software Proficiency: MATLAB

·Strong MS Office skills, proficiency
