Schedule Full Time
Will function as a System Safety Engineer, independently performing a variety of system safety tasks and analyses. Projects supported may require use of traditional system safety techniques, as well as specialized software safety assurance methodologies.
Will establish and implement system safety programs. Will identify and establish system safety requirements and ensure compliance to those requirements. Will conduct and document the analysis of systems in accordance with MIL-STD 882E, AMCOMR 385-17, and other standards. Will participate as a member of System Safety Working Groups (SSWG).
Will work with System Engineers to ensure safety hazards are identified and safety risks are properly assessed. Will ensure hazard control strategies are included in the design of hardware and/or software to eliminate or minimize risks, and any residual risk are accepted by designated authorities.
Will develop or assist in development of test plans and safety documentation for new and existing programs, including Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Analysis, and System Safety Management Plans. Will prepare safety input to Performance Specifications and Statements of Work as well as serve as an advisor on Source Selection Evaluation Boards.
Will interact with external Safety organizations (i.e., Army Materiel Command (AMCOM) Safety Office and associated Software System Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP), and the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC)) to obtain approvals, endorsements, and required safety related documentation including Safety Releases, Safety Confirmations, and Safety and Health Data Sheets (SHDS).

BS/BA in Engineering or other Technical field and 8 years of experience required.
Demonstrated expertise in performing system safety tasks to include hazard identification/analyses/mitigation. Experience in coordinating safety-related requirements, activities, and documentation with external organizations (i.e., User, ATEC/AEC, AMC Major Subordinate Command Safety Offices). Familiarity with system safety and materiel release standards and regulations such as MIL STD 882E, AR 700-142, and AMCOMR 385-17. Some travel will be required. Experience in developing system safety requirements and documentation. Experience working in the SSWG framework. Familiarity with software safety assurance methodologies and the SSSTRP process. Familiarity with munition, explosive, and fuse safety requirements and processes. Familiarity with Counter-Rocket, Artillery, Mortar (C-RAM) program or other integrated system-of-systems efforts.
