We are seeking an Associate Analyst, Technical Writing for our Huntsville, AL office.
This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
Using established procedures and working under close supervision, the Associate Technical Writer will be responsible for the following:
40% – Ensures that written documents are complete and accurate and adhere to military, customer, and Aerojet Rocketdyne requirements in both form and content. Review documentation for general layout, format, style and organization, as well as writing and critiquing.
35% – Assists Configuration Managers and others with technical reports, manuals, and presentations.
25% – Works with the Integrated Product Teams to plan, write, and edit technical specifications/standards, reports, proposals, brochures, papers, manuals, and presentations for print and electronic publication. Responsible for determining the format required based on contractual requirements and Military Standards. Translates technical input into well-written, precise technical documents.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS: Participates in process initiatives and supports activities for the development and control of Aerojet Rocketdyne common specs and command media.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of Mil-Standards for the preparation of specifications preferred. Interpersonal skills are necessary to interface effectively with all levels of personnel. A strong background in English grammar and composition is required, as well as the ability to operate effectively in a team environment. Required knowledge of various computer systems and applicable software to prepare reports and documents.
US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
