Job Description

+ Accept voluntary customer payments and negotiate payment arrangements to resolve short-term financial hardship issues with customers, when applicable

+ Assist customers with account based inquiries and the status of their account

+ Recommend appropriate retention solutions to the customer

+ Off-set deposit accounts, as applicable

+ Resolve problem accounts, assisting in complex collection situations

+ Respond to credit reporting disputes

+ May include research and making recommendations to supervisor concerning future action

+ Comply with company and regulatory requirements including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Sarbanes Oxley Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Unites States Bankruptcy Code

+ Accurately document call details in the appropriate bank systems

+ Obtain bankruptcy information from customers, attorneys, or PACER to include case number, chapter, date filed, and attorney name

+ Obtain death certificate or other proof of death from the customer’s family or appropriate personal representative

+ Retrieve, open and distribute electronic and paper mail for NPA and Collections departments

+ Prepare customer payments for loan operations and/or accounting department

+ Assign account servicing to appropriate vendors for bankruptcy, pending bankruptcy and probate

+ Process lien release requests, coordinating with Collateral Release or preparing and delivering release

+ Review and recommend account assignment for repossession or foreclosure

+ Prepare check requests as needed for bankruptcy trustees

+ Perform daily tasks assigned by bankruptcy and probate vendors

+ Complete other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

+ High school diploma or GED

+ Two-plus years banking center, call center, consumer collections experience or customer service experience

+ Excellent customer service and sales skills

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Strong negotiation and sales skills with demonstrated attention to detail, dependability, self-control, independence, flexibility and stress tolerance

+ Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Excel and Access

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Bi-lingual (Spanish and English)

+ Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree

+ Prior banking or collection experience

+ Prior bankruptcy account experience
