Electricians / Electronic Technicians
The AL State Port Authority is seeking qualified Electricians/Electronic Technicians in the Bulk Division (Pinto Slab Terminal).
We are looking for about a half dozen electricians or electronic technicians. Primary duties involve the maintenance and repair of our automated large gantry cranes, ship loaders, rail cars dumps, conveyor systems, etc. These are not typical electricians pulling wire or residential type work.
Pay Rate: $21.24 to $23.86 per hour.

Employee will install, troubleshoot, maintain and repair electrical systems, apparatus, fixtures, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment following electrical code, technical manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications and instructions, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment. Diagnoses malfunctioning systems and apparatus such as motors, switchgear, transformers, lighting fixtures and control devices and makes necessary repairs to restore systems to operational capability. Replaces damaged or broken wires, cables, faulty electrical components such as relays, switches, motors and sensing devices. Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards using electronic test equipment. Plans layout and installs wiring, conduit and electrical apparatus at the plant. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Must have successfully completed a standard senior high school or GED equivalent. Must have the ability to follow oral and/or written instructions without supervision. Requires the ability to read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings, blueprints, and sketches. Must have the ability to read and follow operational manuals and manufacturer’s specifications. Must possess a valid Alabama driver’s license. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work above ground level and lift heavy objects. Must be able to work a rotating shift possibly in a dusty environment and in inclement weather.
Must have extensive knowledge, skills and abilities to perform as an industrial electrician at the journeyman level (or military equivalent) obtained through a combination of experience and training. Must have extensive knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions for electrical trades and high voltage work. Must have extensive knowledge of the methods, practices and materials used in the industrial electrical trades. Must have extensive knowledge of the principles and history of electricity and of applicable electrical codes. Must have D.C. knowledge and experience. Must have knowledge of the care and safe operation of electrical tools, equipment and testing devices.
