Job Description:

Will work as a Material Handler in a Warehouse. The Material Handler provides customer satisfactions in the accurate processing of customer orders, shipping, receiving intra-company transfers and inventory counts.

Pay Rate: $10.00 to $12.00 per hour.
Work Schedule: This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Overtime is required as dictated by the work load.

Eligibility: (Must meet OJT eligibility guidelines) If accepted for an “On the Job Training” (OJT) position (You must certify and meet OJT eligibility guidelines at the Alabama Career Center / Southwest Alabama Partnership for Training and Employment.) (SWAPTE)

Job Duties:

Must have customer service skills, cooperative attitude and work well with others.
Operate a forklift, two-wheel hand cart, and scales. Retrieve stock to fulfill orders. Check outgoing and incoming shipments for accuracy. Check orders for accuracy. Place compiled/completed orders in appropriate designated areas. Monitor movement and progress of orders to insure timely delivery. Open bales, crates and other containers. Assist in counting of physical inventory. Wear the proper safety equipment and abide by safety rules at all times. Inspect goods for defects and report damaged or defective material/product to supervisor or sales staff; no damaged product is to be sent out. Order picking, packing, wrapping, labeling product and shrink-wrapping orders that are palletized according to standard operating procedure, making note to follow any special instructions on orders with customer specific requests. Load finished product/orders onto trucks. Transport stock from storage to warehouse or where needed, load or unload material inbound or outbound. Keep work area clean, safe, organized and maintained by following the 6 S’s (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety).
Competencies (Knowledge): Ability to follow instructions from management. Knowledgeable in TFI/OSHA Safety requirements. Communication Proficiency both verbal and written. Organization Skills. Mathematical Skills.

Job Requirements:

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. Prefers one to two years’ previous warehouse experience and Forklift certification. Requires knowledge of American Standard of Measurement (inches and feet) and will be tested for accuracy. Candidate must possess good communication skills, have a professional demeanor, and be able to follow instructions both verbal and written. Requires a background check, drug screen and a valid, current Driver’s License.
The employee must have skills to regularly lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move-objects that weigh 95 pounds.
