Job Description

Maintenance Technician – 3rd Shift

The Maintenance Technician position provides advanced electro-mechanical expertise to the manufacturing facility in the areas of manufacturing equipment maintenance/repair and facility/utility maintenance/repair. The Maintenance Technician possesses highly developed knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics electronics PLC controls, VFD’s, and power transmission equipment. The Maintenance Tech maintains, troubleshoots and repairs manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facility, and shares knowledge of applicable electrical and mechanical concepts/principles to other maintenance personnel. This position will be located at our facility in Gadsden, AL (Birmingham, AL metropolitan area) and additional responsibilities include and are not limited to:

+ Provide troubleshooting and repair of facility electrical equipment and control system problems associated with the hardware and software contained within the facilities PLC, servo controllers, operator interfaces, and VFD systems, as well as all mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

+ Assists in analyzing all plant equipment for failures, design flaws and operational deficiencies.

+ Provide assistance in determining the specifications and requirements of spare parts under the department’s spare parts program. Perform special projects from time to time as assigned by Maintenance management in a cost effective and timely manner. Inform the appropriate facility personnel of any necessary modifications or system malfunctions that would affect their area of operation.

+ Maintain a high level of safety by learning and participating in all Keystone Foods safety programs. Accountable to follow all requirements and processes that pertain to the BRC Program, Lock/Out-Tag/Out, Refrigeration systems and all other OSHA, EPA and Keystone related programs. Take the initiative to acquire all the knowledge necessary on current and new technology needed to perform effective plant operations

+ Advise Maintenance Superintendent of any maintenance activities or mechanical conditions that might influence production schedules or safety concerns.

+ Collaborates with the Maintenance Superintendent to arrange for education/training in the areas that pertain to the mechanical field, and OSHA mandated courses. Encouraged to participate in furthering education through 2-3 day course studies

+ Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Ideal candidates will have:

+ High school graduate or equivalent with technical school diploma or advanced education in electrical, mechanical or electronic engineering

+ 5-7 years industrial maintenance experience or two years’ experience and technical school graduate or engineering degree.

+ Food Processing Plant experience (preferred)

+ Excellent communication skills

+ Strong organizational skills

+ Ability to understand and convey complex technical concepts to other mechanics as well as general managers, department heads, and supervision.

+ Basic Computer Skills
