Robins & Morton is looking for a Corporate Communications Director to develop and oversee internal and external communications plans in support of Robins & Morton’s brand, messaging and corporate communications goals.

We are looking for a candidate who report to the Director of Marketing and Communications. He/she will be the trusted adviser to corporate leadership on long-term internal and external communications planning and take the lead on developing responses to crises and emerging issues. The candidate must be able to work proactively to develop messaging and strategic plans that help to build our brand and reputation and maintain trust with our community.

Drive consistency in communications/messaging to promote a unified voice
Create short- and long-term campaigns that will increase brand awareness
Work with communications team to monitor and report on website and social media analytics; analyze performance of campaigns
Seek out stories and public relations opportunities outside of news and announcements
Work with Director of Marketing and Communications to monitor market trends to develop effective marketing communications strategies
Work with Director of Marketing and Communications to conceptualize advertising campaigns (print and digital platforms)
Develop, nurture and maintain relationships with key industry, business and trade reporters
Collaborate with industry publications to pitch stories that support the firm’s brand
Work closely with Robins & Morton leadership and subject matter experts on news, stories and speaking opportunities to raise R&M’s profile as an innovative construction leader
Work with communications team to track/disseminate firm’s media coverage
Actively lead and develop your team members
Create and provide leadership of strategic communications plan to help build Robins & Morton’s brand (including both digital and traditional platforms)
Develop internal subject matter expert profiles and support speaking opportunities
Execute firm’s brand strategy, guidelines and oversight – particularly with construction jobsite signage
Analyze available technologies and implement emerging tools into marketing efforts
Actively participate in R&M’s Learning and Development training opportunities.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM: (Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.)
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field
Minimum of 15 years of experience in a media/public relations, communications or branding role
Preferably, experience in the AEC (Architecture/Engineering/Construction) industry
Strategic thinking with exceptional copywriting skills, editorial skills and creativity
Strong, established relationships with a broad range of media outlets
Sense of urgency with propensity to be a self-starter and work cross-functionally across multiple areas of responsibility in a fast-paced environment
Multi-channel campaign management experience including digital and traditional distribution
Ability to establish rapport and relationships with individuals at all levels, internally and externally
Stellar written and oral communication skills
Track-record of driving innovation by deploying new communications tools and technologies to more effectively execute work and drive business results
Ability to exercise sound business judgment in fast-paced environments
Excellent Microsoft Office skills
Adobe Creative Suite
High technical competence in marketing automation/digital tools, content management systems (CMS’s) and platforms
Proficiency in social media platforms for business purposes is required

OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION:
This is an Exempt position and is not subject to overtime pay.
Travel is required on occasion.
This position is assigned to the Birmingham office.
