About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in
Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain
halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off
Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County
with approximately 4000 employees.

  1. Responsibilities

- Inspect a variety of hydraulic and components and assemblies for
combat and tactical vehicles, weapons control systems, bridge
launching vehicles and other similar mission material.
- Disassemble items, locates defective parts, repairs, modifies or
replaces as required.
- Utilize a variety of hand tools common to the trade and
precision instruments such as voltmeters, ampmeters, ohmmeter,
surface and depth gauges, dial indicators, torque wrenches,
levels, analyzers and meggers.
- Fabricate hydraulic lines, gaskets and cannibalizes parts and
components as required or as workload demands.
- Utilize and/or monitor the use of precision measuring equipment
and test devices to certify quality and reliability.
- Spot check work for compliance with instructions and/or other
similar technical publications, such as drawings,
specifications, and work orders.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work
of a(n) Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic~ without more than normal
supervision. Repairs, rebuilds, modify and adjust a variety of
hydraulic and pneumatic components and assemblies of related
equipment. Rebuild electrical motors at switches directly related to
the hydraulic units; correct malfunctions on a variety of hydraulic
and other fluid systems and their associated components; perform
liquid penetrant check and magnetic particle tests of parts and
components. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in
an ineligible rating.

- Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal
Supervision

- Physical Effort: Work involves sitting, standing, stooping,
bending and working in tiring positions. Constantly lifts items
weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally is required to lift items
in excess of 45 pounds.
- Working Conditions: Work is performed in building that is
moderately heated, lighted and ventilated. Work is dirty and
greasy and incumbent is exposed to cuts, bruises and abrasions
from use of tools, equipment and air pressure. Is required to
wear safety shoes.

Substitution of education is not applicable for this position.

  1. Additional information

This position is a TERM position. It is temporary and may be
extended up to a maximum of eight years. This position may be
converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment
without further competition as long as all requirements are met and
a conversion opportunity exists. To be eligible for conversion,
employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous
service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND
employee must have a current performance rating under such term
appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.

- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a
Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service
Registration.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
- Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department
