Dynamics Test Subject Matter Expert

In your role as a Dynamics Test Subject Matter Expert, you will directly support a variety of Department of Defense weapon systems programs within the field of dynamic environment testing. You will use your extensive experience in measurement, characterization, test definition, and test execution to support DoD organizations, defense contractors, and NATO allies in preparing weapon systems for an operational environment.
What you’ll do all day:
Work as part of a team of environmental dynamics test engineers and technicians.
Develop shock and vibration test specifications.
Adapt and establish existing and new analysis procedures to meet unique project specific requirements.
Investigate testability of developed specifications to assure the laboratory environment matches field exposure as closely as feasible.
Modify specifications and/or recommend modifications in control algorithms or test setup to enhance testability.
Conduct studies involving complex signal analysis to characterize the shock and vibration exposure of high-valued developmental systems.
Support RTC’s involvement in national and international dynamic test standards development.
Train and mentor dynamic test engineers in regards to developing dynamic test specifications and performing dynamic tests (both laboratory and field tests) in accordance with MIL-STD-810.
Provide guidance and expert advice to system program offices, Army evaluators, and other Government agencies within the field of dynamic environments measurement, characterization, test definition, and test conduct.
Investigate unique analysis techniques and continually evolve Vibration Schedule Development (VSD) and Shock Test Development procedures and processes.
Minimum requirements for this position:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 20 years of applicable experience.
Demonstrated subject matter expertise in conducting dynamic tests in accordance with MIL-STD-810.
Extensive knowledge of dynamic tests methods and standards.
Demonstrated expertise in the development of dynamic test standards and test plans.
Demonstrated experience in dynamic signal analysis.
Ability and desire to train, mentor, and consult junior dynamic test engineers.
Must be willing to travel as need to support national and international dynamic test standards development meetings.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Government security clearance.
Must be a US Citizen.
