Job Description

Summary
Assist Foreman with general construction laborer tasks. Employees are promoted according to their capabilities and desire for advancement, not after a specific period of time. Employees must complete specific training activities and pass a written exam for advancement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Assist in replacement of bridge timbers
• Remove steel rivets with pneumatic tool
• Tighten structural steel bolts with impact wrench
• Remove existing structural steel with oxygen and acetylene torch
• Drill holes in existing or new structural steel with magnetic drill
• Drill holes in existing or new timber with ½” Electric or Hydraulic Drill
• Hang scaffolding
• Work at heights while utilizing lineman equipment
• Ascend and descend slopes with rough terrain
• Drive spikes and drive pins with maul
• Dig using hand shovel
• Operate ½” drill and generator, impact wrench, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, and chain saw
• Use lineman gear, D-handle spade (shovel), sharp shooter (shovel), crow bar, and pry bar
• Excavate holes 6” to 3’ in depth
• Climb wooden trestles with lineman’s gear, plugging 3/8” holes with wooden dowels while climbing
• Using a ½” drill – bore 3/8” x 12” holes, inject liquid wood preservative into 3/8” pre-drilled holes while climbing
• Operate ½” drill and generator and use the following tools: 2 ½ lb. hammer, lineman gear, D-handle spade (shovel), sharp shooter (shovel), crow bar, and pry bar.
• Work at heights while utilizing lineman equipment
• Ascend and descend slopes with rough terrain

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Other Requirements
Must be able to travel 100% of the time. The company provides transportation from job site to job site in company vehicles. Employees are compensated based on mileage, unless the employee is driving a company vehicle, in which case he/she is paid hourly.
