Job Description

We are looking for a VDC Coordinator to communicate with our project teams, train field team members, design partners and trade partners to realize 3D/4D/5D/6D benefits and application to our projects. The VDC Coordinator will help us to provide the most innovative, precise and efficient services to our clients.

We are looking for a highly innovative candidate with excellent problem solving skills, who will work with the Virtual Design and Construction team to further the use of technology to provide our clients with the best, most accurate services possible.

Competencies

Assist in development of innovative, technically creative VDC/BIM presentations.
Create conceptual models based on similar projects and historical cost information.
Assist with ensuring a smooth transition from preconstruction to operations.
Update and maintain trade partner/vendor database as required.
Participate in promotion of VDC/BIM use, both within R&M and in business community.
Collaboration

Assist in sales presentations, marketing efforts related to Building Information Modeling (BIM) as required.
Participate in project kick off, design, preconstruction, and operations/project meetings; assist in VDC/BIM-related work sessions/meetings, as required.
Obtain building models and other electronic documents from design team.
Coordinate proper file protocols with design team and trade partners.
Assist in facilitating project coordination meetings with trade partners.
Work and develop relationships with VDC/BIM software suppliers and VDC/BIM consultants.
Continuous Improvement

Perform site visits and collect data required to perform modeling tasks.
Prepare models to effectively convey cost management alternatives, when appropriate.
Assist preconstruction with quantity extraction and ensure preparation of clear, properly formatted material takeoff schedules from building model.
Perform clash detection of various building design disciplines during preconstruction to assist design team’s quality control efforts and to ensure constructability of projects during design.
Perform clash detection between design model and electronic shop drawings to resolve conflicts in above ceiling MEP work/work of other trades, prior to installation.
Develop animated construction timelines within building model to demonstrate 4D scheduling/sequencing/phasing simulation.
Prepare models as virtual mock-ups for visualization, functionality and/or constructability.
Strive to attain 100% Customer Satisfaction for all VDC/BIM projects, as well as internal satisfaction.
Leadership Development

Assist with creation, development and ongoing maintenance of BIM models (or conversion of 2D plans or PDF’s to 3D models) for projects.
Establish credibility and confidence with clients, design team, trade partners and internal team members through effective use of VDC/BIM technology.

Learning Culture

Properly address and document questions regarding projects and model information.
Develop models for demonstration of site staging and logistics plans, construction phasing, project sequencing and scheduling.
Assist preconstruction/operations in use of BIM for visualization, coordination, & constructability.
Participate in training opportunities (R&M Training for Excellence program, as well as outside VDC/BIM user groups and conferences); participate as an instructor, when applicable.
Visit ongoing projects to increase knowledge of construction methods and technology integration.
Job Qualifications:
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM: (Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job)

B.S. or B.A. degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture and/or Associates degree in drafting/design with 5+ years’ experience.
Minimum of 1 year of Field/operations experience. 2+ Years of Construction experience with BIM/VDC Experience a plus.
Knowledge of, & willingness to learn effective use & application of Revit Architecture, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, Revit Structure, Revit MEP, Fuzor, Assemble Systems, Google Sketch Up, Lumion, Photo Shop & related programs.
Effective use of non BIM, Microsoft Suite – Word, Excel, Power Point, Project.
Effective interpersonal & communication skills (oral and written; clear, concise, effective).
Ability to present & speak effectively with all members of the project team.
Ability to read, analyze and write routine reports and correspondence.
Experience in & passion for learning & using new VDC/BIM technologies/related design/graphics software.
Proficient blueprint reading, document interpretation for all design disciplines.
Understanding and application of estimating/preconstruction/construction techniques.
Ability to work as an effective team member, exhibiting positive attitude at all times.
Developed leadership attributes in dealings with others.
Organizational and time management skills.
Drive and initiative in performance of duties; meet deadlines.

This position is Exempt salaried position and is not subject to overtime pay.
This position is assigned to the corporate office or a division office.
Office environment; travel is required.
This position reports directly to the Manager of BIM/VDC Services.
