The JSEG OperationsEngineering Support Team is seeking a Transportation and Logisticsengineer\. As a member of the transportation team you will developcomprehensive operation procedures and work instructions supportingtransportation and heavy\-lift operations for critical and non\-criticalspaceflight hardware in support of the Marshall Space Flight Center\. Duties will include interfacing with the hardware owners and stakeholders toidentify critical requirements for the handling of sensitive hardware,conducting field site\-visits as needed, developing the operations proceduresand then reconciling review comments and finalizing the procedures\. Youwill also have the opportunity to grow into the role of Move Manager and beresponsible for directing implementation of the procedures\. Additionalduties will require identifying appropriate safety controls to prevent injuryof personnel or damage to hardware, specifying equipment and personnel requiredfor each specific job, and interacting with internal team members and NASAstaff as required during the course of the work\.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical, Civil,or Aerospace Engineering or related field from an ABET\-accredited university isrequired\. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a BS withat least 15 years’ experience\.

Desired Experience / Skills:

+ Excellent Written and OralCommunication Skills required

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Officeproducts such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word required

+ Ability to work in a teamingenvironment required

+ Ability to travel to other NASAcenters and contractor locations \(<20%\) required

+ Experience in technical writingrequired

+ Familiarity with NASA processes andprocedures highly desired

+ Experience serving in lead roles fortechnical teams highly desired

+ Proficiency with Creo Elements/Pro\(Pro/E\) 3\-D modeling and 2\-D drafting highly desired

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Office environment\. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing \(100%\)\. Requires ability to interact professionally with co\-workers, management, and client \(100%\)\. Requires travel in the domestic USA \(<15%\)\.

Physical Requirements

Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues \(10%\)\. Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks \(80%\)\. Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and Jacobs facilities \(10%\)\.

Equipment and Machines

Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment \(100%\)\.

Attendance

This positions is a 4\-9\-80 shift; 9\-hr shifts Monday thru Thursday; 8\-hr shift alternate Fridays, with every other Friday off due to building closure\. Minimal overtime may be required \(10%\) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job\. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required\.

Other Essential Functions

The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential \(100%\)\. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others\.
