Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is to plan, administer and manage the special events of the Maxwell AFB Force Support Squadron (to include active, retiree, and civilian personnel and their dependents), and to offer a wide variety of special event programs to the Maxwell AFB community through recreational and family programming. Plans and coordinates the details for recurring and non-recurring FSS Squadron special events and joint community undertakings so as to make maximum use of the facilities, services and other resources. Events include large base-wide events, base picnics, open houses, facility grant openings, Air Shows, Corona and any AETC or AF contests/programs. Follows up by reviewing and consolidating after action reports and submitting recommendations to the FSS leadership. In addition, incumbent coordinates with FSS facilities to identify, plan and coordinate special events within their facilities. Serves as the POC for Force Support Squadron for all major wing events and programs. Coordinates with other agencies such as Public Affairs, Security Forces, Protocol, and private organizations to secure logistical and volunteer support. Assists with FSS competitions include LeMay, Hennessy, and Innkeeper competitions by coordinating and planning in-brief socials and Icebreaker receptions for evaluation teams. Coordinates with Marketing Director to establish necessary publicity and sponsorship in support to FSS events. Solicits paid entertainment and various other resources in support of events. Establishes necessary budgets and coordinates with appropriate contacts to secure funding for both NAF and APF requirements. Makes needs known, secures cost estimates, obtains sources of supply for purchases, etc. Performs market analysis of area or region and recommends commensurate financial goals. Accounts for funds received and expended and makes recommendations to supervisors for improvements in funding, additional personnel, supplies, equipment and facilities to operate or promote special event activities. Plans, coordinates, and participates in event set-up and tear down. Provides training to volunteers to include guidance and leadership for specific events. Communicates squadron appreciation to support personnel and prepares after action reports following events. Performs other related duties as assigned. Position is a Position of Trust.
