In your role as a Security Specialist 1, you will assist Redstone Test Center’s (RTC’s) Command Security Manager and the Intelligence & Security Division (S-2) in security management.
What you’ll do all day:
Work with the RTC security team to provide information, physical, and operational security
Access control to RTC Facilities
Use the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) to vet and process visit requests submitted to RTC by persons and organizations outside of RTC.
Assist RTC sponsors of future visitors with the process of digital submission and routing of visit requests.
Greet visitors professionally and politely, determine the nature of their visits, obtain accepted forms of their identification, using JPAS determine if already approved for visit, and if so, coordinate their rendezvous with their RTC sponsors or escorts, issue visitor badges, and meticulously maintain records of visitors.
In- and out-process newly reporting and departing employees, respectively, in S-2.
Assist in enabling and disabling employees’ and visitors’ physical access to controlled areas and facilities; includes administering electronic security systems (ESSs) databases controlling entryways and gates.
Assist in developing and executing Random Anti-terrorism Measures (RAMs).
Assist in conducting physical security and risk vulnerability inspections, evaluating against established standards, policies, and procedures; and, providing recommendations.
Assist in evaluating local RTC security policies, procedures, practices, and standards for adequacy in meeting requirements and mitigating risks; make corresponding recommendations and reports.

Minimum requirements for this position:
Five years of experience directly related to industrial, information, physical and operational security.
Experience with DOD security publications and regulations
Experience drafting security policies and procedures from Government security regulation for application at the organizational level.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Government security clearance.
Must be a US Citizen.
