In your role as a Metrology Technician, you will performs Mass Properties Measurements (weight, center of gravity, moments of inertia) on various test items and flight hardware fielded by the Army. Operate CMM and other various metrology instruments (gauges, calipers, micrometers, optical comparator and dimensional verification equipment). Collects, collates, and reports data results in required formats. Performs basic maintenance and calibration on inspection equipment. Perform CMM inspection of test items, component fixtures, and tooling, referencing blue prints and geometric dimensioning and tolerance requirements (GD&T). Support pre and post-test inspections to ensure quality testing and proper techniques are utilized. Follow safe work practices, complying with policies and procedures, proper and safe use of equipment and tools, and identifies and reports unsafe working conditions.
What you’ll do all day:
Work as part of a team of Metrology technicians / Engineering technicians.
Use your skills to take measurements and perform mass properties measurements.
Collect and prepare test data results in a required format.
Review work procedures, SOP’s and other safety /quality documents.
Interpret drawings, blueprints, and specification checks for parts and assemblies.
Communicate with engineers, technicians, and customers to discover and develop requirements with the goal of optimizing current and future improvements to systems and process.
Work with other functional groups as needed to meet mission deadlines and schedules.
Participate in specific and cross-functional training programs in order to support the Climatic test division and its customers.
Lead junior level technicians in tasks and training sessions needed to develop the test team.
Participate in daily and monthly safety and quality meetings to improve efficiency and safety.

Minimum requirements for this position:
Associates degree in Machine Tool Technology, Aerospace Technology, or other mechanical related field is desired with three (3) years of experience as an Engineering Technician
Trade school in a related field and Five (5) years of experience.
Desired experience in operating, programming CMM, and the ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Ability to collect and collate test data into required report formats.
Be proficient with Microsoft office products.
The ability to perform maintenance activities and calibration on inspection equipment.
Be comfortable utilizing material handling equipment safely including forklifts and cranes.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Government security clearance.
Must be a US Citizen.
Desired skills and experience for this position:
2 years’ experience operating CMM and other various metrology instruments (gauges, calipers, micrometers, optical comparator and dimensional verification equipment).
CMM programming experience is a plus.
2 years’ of layout inspection experience.
Working knowledge of GD&T, SOP’s, work procedures
