The Flight Mechanic II is responsible for ensuring that aircraft and equipment is functioning safely and efficiently. The Flight Mechanic II completes pre-light and post flight inspection and performs duties in flight as required by the pilot in airspace surveillance, radio calls and other flight related duties.
Services, repairs and overhauls various aircraft components and systems including airframes, engines, electrical and hydraulic systems propellers, avionics equipment and aircraft instruments.
Maintains, repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components
Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and apply required expertise in restoring condition and operation
Solves moderate to complex problems by interpreting knowledge of aircraft mechanical components troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement parts
Maintains and / or repairs aircraft sheet metal structures. Make modifications as necessary
Applies thorough working knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheets
Reads, interprets and relays information from technical publications
Records repairs, modifications and other tasks in required aircraft logs and maintenance records
Leads a team of mechanics and other personnel, when required, through more complete aircraft relevant tasks
The Flight Mechanic II may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Beginner to intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred
Ability to enter data accurately into databases.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with other crew members
Must possess effective oral and technical written communication skills to clearly communicate information to others.
Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.
Ability to follow a process.
Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.
Strong decision analysis and problem solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management.
Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to goals.
Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently
Ability to multi-task
Meet all requirements, as a non-rated crewmember IAW with AR 95-20 for UH-60 series aircraft.
Perform all duties and responsibilities as a crew-chief.
Perform in-flight duties and assists the pilots, consistent with established Service or FAA standards.
Must meet minimum flight hour requirements as crew-chief as specified in AR 95-20.
Climbs on top of and down from aircraft using aircraft hand/foot holds, capable of lifting up to 25 lbs. overhead, on feet all day, walk up to 2 miles per day.
High School Diploma / Equivalent or FAA A&P License
Completed a military aircraft repairer school for one of the following aircraft H-60A/L/M.
A minimum of 8 years’ experience in Army aviation maintenance,
Greater than 200 flight hours as a UH60 crew chief.
Must hold a valid, current FAA or military Class III Medical Certificate, as prescribed by the Government.
Reset or Depot experience is preferred
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance
500 Flight Hours completed.
