Job Description

Robins & Morton is looking for a Carpenter/Finisher to work with us on our various projects and find satisfaction in doing a high quality job.

We are looking for a candidate who will be able to help us construct, repair and maintain permanent and temporary structures using both hand and power tools. The candidate must be able to work effectively under the leadership of a jobsite manager.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.)

Take off material quantities accurately.
Perform carpentry tasks on hardware, division 10, T&M, windows, doors, building specialties, cabinets, countertops, and frames as required.
Build square, level and plumb a specific project task using basic carpentry tools.
Know how to build safety provisions, including but not limited to: Scaffolding, Gang Ladders, Perimeter railings and Fall Protection, Temporary Covers, Inter.
Install interior finish items, including but not limited to: Wall protection, Doors & Hardware, Toilet Accessories, Cubicle Curtain Track, TV Brackets, Lockers, etc.
Use different types of carpentry tools safely. e.g. Saws (Band, circular, jig, reciprocating, chop, compound miter, etc.), Drills (Electric, Cordless, Hammer, etc.), and cutting torches
Identify and request (If not provided) all PPE necessary to perform tasks prior to starting.
Plan and execute your work to provide high efficiency.
Ensure you have proper tools and materials to perform task or project.
Run basic equipment, including but not limited to: All terrain telescoping fork lift, back-hoe, skid steer, tractor, etc.
Keep assigned areas of jobsite clean and organized to maintain safe and productive work.
Cut and install interior/exterior wood, metal backing as required.
Inspect subordinate’s work for compliance with work plan, point out deficiencies, explain, and take corrective action.
Job Qualifications:

High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) Preferred
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in carpentry required (including hanging & taping).
Previous experience in hospital construction preferred.
2-5 years’ experience installing Building Specialties, Cabinets, Windows, Countertops and Commercial Doors, Frames & Hardware (DFH) and/or Division 10 items.
Basic plumbing and/or electrical knowledge preferred.
Comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manual
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to understand information, ideas, direction and then perform task or project discussed.
Ability to ask questions to ensure you understand information given. Bi-lingual a plus.
Notice and notify supervisor of safety problem or potential hazard.
Recognize problems in drawings, document, or sketch you have been given for a task.
NCCER Training/Certified preferred.
Ability to read construction documents and build a specific task with those provided documents.
Provide and maintain general hand tools including: Tool belt/box, Hammers, tape measures, hand levels, squares, chalk lines, plumb bob, tie wire reel, screw drivers, pliers, etc.

Ability to perform repetitive movements; work overhead; use hands to grasp; reach with arms
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist
Ability to sit, climb and balance.
Ability to frequently lift and/or push or pull up to 25lbs and occasionally lift and/or push or pull up to 50lbs.
Vision-Must be adequate to perform all carpentry tasks.

Required to wear personal protective equipment as needed to perform job tasks.
Regularly exposed to noise, dust, varying types of smells
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, must be able to properly use and handle toxic or caustic chemicals.
Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, and outside weather conditions.

This position is assigned to jobsite locations; travel/relocation is required.
This position is part of the Operations Department.
This position reports direct to Sr Superintendent, Project MIC, or Operations Manager.
