Inspects and repairs production equipment and components to insure the safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing process.


+ Daily line inspections of production equipment and components to determine if repairs are warranted that are associated with scheduled preventative maintenance. Must be able to assign cost and time requirements to complete said repairs. Ability to coordinate a p.m. activity; assigning responsibility to others.

+ Repairs production equipment or components by troubleshooting problems, identifying the appropriate method of repair, replacing worn parts, and returning the equipment to production while assuring the proper safety and housekeeping requirements are being met.

+ Troubleshoots, installs and replaces electrical equipment or components to include motors, starters, medium and low voltage transformers, breakers, fuses, lights, ballast, switches, sockets, plugs, etc., following manufacturer’s instructions and safety precautions.

+ Troubleshoots, installs and replaces mechanical components to include bearings, rollers, conveyors belts, couplings and shafts, gears and chain, pulleys and belts, air and hydraulic hoses and fittings, etc., following manufacturer’s instructions and safety precautions.

+ Must be able to organize, construct and supervise a project team on the moving, installing, adjusting, and set up of plant equipment using the appropriate tools while assuring a safe work environment.

+ Able to perform preventive maintenance on equipment by inspecting units on a scheduled basis, laying out maintenance instructions ( p.m. sheets ), making minor / major adjustments to the procedure as well as the equipment.

+ Actively involved in the preventive maintenance program by assessing the documentation and maintaining a log of repairs made, materials used, and the date repairs were made so that an audit trail can be followed. Actively involved in the repair of the spare equipment in the shop that has been removed from the production lines; helping train the less experienced mechanics with the opportunity presents itself.

+ Ability to demonstrate leadership responsibility on the control of the spare parts and supplies: the removal of parts from the room, the return of unused parts, and the parts that require rebuilding or are repaired off site. Ability to assist other mechanics on being compliant and training others on the proper storage locations. Placing necessary TAGS on parts or components that are repaired in the machine shop.

+ During daily activities, will lead maintenance employees with less experienced on specific assignments such as scheduled p.m.’s or emergency break-downs.

+ Must be able to troubleshoot the difficult repairs and determine whether the individual can handle the needed repairs and delegate assignments accordingly.

+ Will be called in orrequired to workover regularly scheduled shifts to support emergency repairs and breakdowns to equipment in operation.

+ Troubleshooting of operation equipment: formers, closures, edsons, end folders, mini-nips, separators, bag machines, and all the support systems for both departments.

+ Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


+ Must have 5 – 7 years-relevant work experiences in the applicable trades area. Additional training at a technical school or college in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, machine tool, engine repair, welding, and/or refrigeration and air conditioning is preferred.

+ Mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, electrical, painting, heating, air conditioning, and welding experience is required.

+ The ability to move heavy objects that exceed 50lbs.

+ Positive oral and written communications skills along with excellent team working skills. Signs of leadership ability must be prevalent.

+ The ability to read and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, vendor manuals, product handbooks blueprints, and drawings also required.

+ Must provide and be able to use electrical troubleshooting instruments; highly skilled with the more advanced testing equipment ( meggers, lap-tops ).

+ Strong knowledge of the operation of production machinery is required for the purpose of easily troubleshooting potential problems.

+ Must be able to apply a leadership role on safety within the maintenance organization. Ownership of housekeeping effort to maintain a safe work environment.

+ Must possess the ability to observe / train other mechanics on troubleshooting techniques that can prevent extended down times.

+ Must be able to multi-task several activities simultaneously; delegating when necessary. Ability to prioritize repairs and tasks to support production needs. Will be required to work under time constraints and schedule pressure to complete maintenance, fabrication, or repair activities with little or no supervision.

+ Must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description within a specified probationary period.
