A world class aerospace defense contractor conveniently located between Atlanta and Birmingham seeks a qualified Quality Engineer for its Weekday Night Shift (work Monday-Friday 4:30pm-2am). The work environment is clean, safe and centrally air conditioned. Essential responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
+ Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
+ Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
+ Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
+ Consults with customer and other personnel regarding product information such as design, capacity and purpose, and types of material to be used to fabricate product.
+ Identifies and recommends changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production processes.
+ Analyzes written specifications, drawings, contracts and other quality requirements to plan and layout inspection acceptance requirements supporting all manufacturing operations.
+ Reviews contracts for completeness and accuracy to bid’s and proposals. Flows specific requirements thru material purchases and product acceptance.
+ Reviews and signs purchase orders for buying materials and services to ensure contract compliance.
+ Supports production manufacturing process reducing variability in an effort to lower cost.
+ Participates in meetings, seminars and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in the field.
+ Confers with workers in quality department to provide technical information and guidance.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This position creates and writes quality and inspection test plans for all metal components produced at the GD-OTS (Anniston) facility. Reviews customer purchase orders and specifications. Assesses different options and makes recommendations on approach following established GD-OTS methodologies.
Bachelor’s degree (BS) from four-year college or university; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. DoD experience preferred.
