Job Description/Essential Functions:

The Liquid Engines Office (LEO) supports the system level design, integration, development, test, qualification, and acceptance of the Space Launch System (SLS), liquid engines.

Responsibilities:

The Liquid Engines Office Avionics Subsystem requires a senior engineer to support the management and development of engine avionics control systems for liquid propulsion systems on aerospace vehicles.

a. Leads the design and development of the liquid engine avionics control system to ensure safe, cost-effective, and timely support.

Ensures that the control system components are properly specified, designed, integrated, and verified to meet the engine and launch vehicle requirements.

c. Leads the efforts to identify and address risks and conduct trade studies used to make appropriate design decisions.

Minimum Requirements:

BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Systems Engineering or related field is required. Degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred.

  • Minimum of 20 years’ experience.
  • Thorough understanding of avionics project management, planning, scheduling, and contractor oversight. Good communications skills are required for coordinating the project office, engineering, and safety team.
  • Thorough working knowledge of avionics control systems, components, and interfaces (i.e., controllers, instrumentation, ignition systems, electrical harnesses, software, and command and data handling (e.g. 1553 and 422 data busses). Experience with aerospace vehicle avionics and integration is required. Familiarity with solid rocket or liquid engine development, manufacture, test and operation is desired.
