The Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) is
currently recruiting for one physician to serve as our Deputy Chief
of Staff on a 120 day detail.
**NOTE: First area of consideration will be given to current
physicians of the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System

The Deputy Chief of Staff is a key leader that works under the broad
supervision of the Chief of Staff. The Deputy Chief of Staff
oversees leadership, policy planning, budget, operations and
performance of the clinical service lines (including Ambulatory
Care, Acute Care and Specialties, Geriatrics, Extended Care and
Rehabilitation, and Mental Health) to achieve quality healthcare

- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting
from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools
approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in
which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or
surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United
States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by
the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core
specialty training program leading to eligibility for board
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
