Position Summary and Responsibilities
The selected engineer will perform, and/or supervise the performance ofelectrical and/or instrumentation and controls and systemsdesign, engineering, testing and maintenance efforts including preparation of test plans, proceduresand reports. The engineer will support testing including data collection. This position will support one or more engineering projects performing design engineering and integrationonDOD, DOE, commercial nuclear, and commercial industrial process programs.Experience working within the requirements of an ASME NQA-1 QA program and DoD or DOE Systems Engineering processes is a plus. Also familiarity and experience designing to the requirements of NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and UL 508A is a major plus.
Responsibilities may include, development ofdesign basis documents, system description documents, design and procurement specifications, electrical and/or Instrumentation & controls design packages and PLC programming. The design packages may include documents such as control logic diagrams,wiring diagrams and schematics, block diagrams, interface control documents, electrical load &/or power sizing calculations, instrument setpoint calculations power and control cabinets etc.. Sizing,design and selection ofelectrical and/or instrumentation & controls equipment andcomponentswill be required. A critical aspect of work is the design integration of control systems power panels and cable layouts. Duties may includeCADdrawing or modeling and performingdesign analysis and calculations, checking and verification,along withcollaborating and interfacing with other functional areassuch as mechanical and structural design, manufacturing, QA, procurementandconfiguration management .
Degreedelectrical engineer or degreed engineer with required experienceand 5+ years’ experience in capital projects working aselectrical &/or Instrumentation & controlssystems design engineer in DOD, DOE, commercial nuclear power, and industrial process plants. P.E. Registration preferred, but not essential.
Due to classified work at the facility and related access restrictions, successful applicants must maintain U.S. Citizenship to allow the person to hold a U.S. Government security clearance.
