Prepares examination rooms for use by retrieving needed supplies from storeroom; performs routine screening of patient’s condition to include charting in electronic health record, patient history and taking pulse, temperature, respiration, and blood pressure; assists physicians with patient care by being present during exams and administering ordered medications and injections; assists physicians with diagnostic tests, special procedures, and physical examinations by handling/holding equipment and supplies; instructs patients and families in disease prevention and explains illnesses; obtains pre-admission certification from insurance carriers for required diagnostic testing, hospital admissions and surgeries by phone or letter; schedules hospital admissions and surgeries; prepares requests for diagnostic testing; maintains patient records; maintains inventories of clinic supplies and medications; maintains medication and supply storage areas in a clean and orderly manner; assists physically impaired patients by assisting with walking or pushing wheelchair or stretcher; interacts by phone, letter, or in person with patients, family members, physicians, USA staff, hospital staff, and insurance company representatives; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.
Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing meeting the minimum standards set by the state of Alabama and licensure with the state of Alabama as a licensed practical nurse.
