In your role as an Engineering Technician, you will directly support the Climatic Test Division in the special projects group as a Mechanical Technician. This role includes as its primary goal to maintain, modify, and improve test equipment as necessary to meet customer schedules, alleviate schedule issues, and perform emergency and routine service on support equipment. You will be expected to support any other functional area with manpower shortage and other duties as assigned in support of the Redstone Wide Engineering Support Services (RWESS) contract.
What you’ll do all day:
Work as part of a team of Engineering Technicians in the special projects group.
Use your skills in a hands-on environment working with quality work procedures and safety documents in order to complete tasks as assigned.
Participate in daily safety meetings, Test Safety Risk Assessments (TSRA), and posttest reviews.
Support other areas within our division as needed to meet test schedules and monthly goals for our customer.
Create and audit improvements to existing equipment, work procedures, and safety pre-test documentation.
Concentrate on the continuous improvements of division capabilities by improvements and upgrades to support test equipment and test chambers for efficient operations.
Communicate with engineers, technicians, and customers to discover and develop requirements with the goal of optimizing current and future goals and efficiencies.
Track maintenance activities, operational hours of equipment, and set schedules for preventive maintenance activities to keep all equipment in operational condition.
Give technical oversight to customers concerning safety and quality in performance of non-typical scenarios and impact to mission.
Utilize mechanical knowledge along with ideas from your team to accomplish optimal performance and increase productivity.
Work with instrumentation technicians and adopt a cross-functional team concept to create a versatile maintenance team.
Overtime may be required as needed to complete projects.

Minimum requirements for this position:
Trade school in a related field
OR five (5) years of experience working as a Mechanical Technician. Education can substitute years of experience up to two (2) years.
Have significant experience working in a mechanical repair trade utilizing hand tools, troubleshooting and solving problems in an efficient and safe manner.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs repetitively over the course of a workday.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training certification is a plus.
Ability to obtain explosive certification level I.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet schedule deadlines.
Willingness to work in extreme hot and cold environments in order to complete tasks on time.
Must be able to understand and follow safety SOP and work procedures.
Must be a team player and active participant for safety.
Drug screen required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Government security clearance.
Must be a US Citizen.
Desired skills and experience for this position:
Associates degree in a technical field such as Aerospace Technology, Mechanical Maintenance, or extensive experience working as a mechanical repair technician.
Applicable military experience.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training certificate.
Preference will be given to those who possess a current Secret government security clearance.
