Job Description

This position will support research projects as well as simulation development efforts focused on improving simulation techniques for aerospace systems with a focus on missiles. The candidate will join an R&D team of engineers developing reduced order models (ROMs), machine learning (ML), and optimization solutions for DoD and NASA customers with a strong interest in developing rapidly evaluated models for use in control systems, optimization, and numerical simulation of aerospace vehicles.

In this role, the candidate will bring experience/interest in 3-&6-DOF model development as well as a fundamental understanding of control theory. The candidate will be the primary developer for these topics, developing tools that will be coupled with reduced order models, machine learning techniques, and optimization techniques. The candidate will work with other engineers with expertise ranging from CFD/CSD, panel methods, and model order reduction.

Requirements:

Candidate must be a US Citizen and be eligible to obtain (and maintain) and Secret Clearance
Position requires at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering or similar discipline (Master’s Degree is a plus)
Experience with GNC simulation, methods, and applications including: 3DOF and 6DOF simulators and numerical methods, working knowledge of optimal state estimation and control theory
Experience developing or analyzing hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulation is strongly desired
Candidate must demonstrate programming skills in one or more of the following: MATLAB, Python, Fortran, C++
Other Requirements:

Preferred candidate will have experience using Simulink for modeling control systems (or similar applications)
Experience or interest in reduced order models, surrogate modeling, and machine learning techniques is a plus
Experience working with CUDA or GPU is also a plus
