We are looking for a Configuration Management Specialist in support of our MIPSS program located in Huntsville, AL!

General Summary:

Experienced Configuration/Data Management (CDM) professional proficient in performing the configuration and data management functions on development project at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). This full-time position will perform all configuration and data management functions utilizing SharePoint and Microsoft Office products. The position requires expertise in all five functions of Configuration Management: Planning, Identification, Change Management, Status Accounting and Audits/Verification. Successful implementation requires initiative and flexibility to meet program milestones as well as an understanding of the principals of CDM and the ability to advise the project on the establishment of CM and DM processes which meet NASA/MSFC requirements. Particular skills/experience in standing up the CM and DM functions for an early phase project including specific experience as a Configuration Control Board Secretariat are required. The ability to understand the change management process and how to manage the technical baseline are key characteristics of the Secretariat position. The successful candidate will be able to take a proactive approach in working with project personnel to establish the required processes.

Job Specifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required. Minimum of 10 years of applicable CDM experience to include change management, data management and configuration status accounting experience is required. Experience as a Configuration Control Board Secretariat or equivalent is required. Demonstrated experience in establishing CM and DM processes for a program/project is required. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & Power Point) is required. Strong organization skills, attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills are required. Significant SharePoint experience including administrator experience is required. Experience in the development of CM and/or DM Plans is desired. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team to accomplish program objectives is desired Certification in CDM or related field such as the National Defense Industry Association (NDIA) Certification is desired. Ability to obtain clearance/access onsite at NASA MSFC is required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Interface with project personnel and personnel at other NASA Centers to implement all aspects of the CM and DM functions. Provide guidance and recommendations on the establishment of CM and DM processes for the project. Develop a CM and/or DM Plan for the project following MSFC guidelines. Manage and facilitate the project Control Board as the Secretariat- including generating agendas and minutes as well as action tracking. Manage project data and act as administrator for project SharePoint site. Perform the Configuration Status Accounting function utilizing an ACCESS database or Excel spreadsheet. Work with project personnel to coordinate the review process and to ensure completeness of their product prior to presentation to the control board. Perform the Records Management function for project. Handle Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU), ITAR and other export control or proprietary data following NASA and MSFC requirements and guidelines.
