Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a SeniorStaff Systems Engineer to work at the Airborne Systems Integration Center’s Special Mission Electronic Aircraft (SEMA) Program Management Office (PMO) in Huntsville, Alabama .

Systems engineers at our facility provide cross functional support to our ground support and PMO teams, working within our repair station to integrate new capabilities unto commercial aircraft and support our customer fleets. They assist with both the technical management and technical design of solutions. The ideal candidate would have prior aviation integration and test experience, strong requirements management fundamentals, strong technical knowledge of the electronics used on ISR platforms, be the face of the engineering IPT within the PMO, develop and maintain relationships with in the aviation industry, effectively communicate with non-technical personnel and the ability to work on fast paced projects. This position is for the lead system engineer for our company on the Army’s SEMA Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) contract. This contract provides the maintenance, upgrades, and support for the Army’s fixed wing special mission fleet.


+ Manages and allocates project requirements

+ Develops architecture to meet requirements

+ Writes technical and test plans

+ Incorporates civil and military airworthiness standards into requirements and test plans

+ Develops subcontractor statements of work and tracks subcontractor technical progress

+ Conducts trade studies supported by modeling and simulation

+ Assists with flight test activities

+ Assists in the creation of technology road maps

+ Ability to generate white papers

+ Verification/validation of non-standard parts

+ Assists with proposal technical writing

+ Assists with integration, troubleshooting and ground test of installed systems

+ Manage and oversee the Reliability and Maintainability program plan for the SEMA contract, acting as SEMA PMO co-chair of the reliability working group

+ Ability to analyze maintenance/failure data to identify trends

+ Provide cross-functional engineering support to all SEMA PMO IPTs

+ Assist with Diminishing Manufacturing Supply, Material Shortages (DMSMS) process

+ Develop and deliver engineering owned Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs)

Basic Qualifications:

+ BS Degree in engineering or other STEM field

+ 14years of experience, at least12 years experience with relevant MS Degree

+ Ability to attain DoD Secret Clearance

+ Ability to travel at least 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Final DoD Secret or higher clearance, SCI credentials

+ MS in engineering, engineering management or other relevant field

+ Former experience with the military or aviation industry

+ Former experience with surveillance aircraft or military UAS systems

+ Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)

+ Domain experience in electrical engineering, structural engineering, RF/microwave engineering

+ AutoCAD proficiency
