Behavioral Aides Provide 1) Safety by ensuring residents and staff members are safe from harm, 2) Care by developing relationships through rapport building and creating an environment of care for both residents and staff, 3) Oversight by maintaining supervision of Behavioral Aides as they implement approved protocols and procedures, 4) Behavioral Modification by helping redirect inappropriate behavior and encouraging appropriate behavior in residents, and 5) Program Support, which includes ensuring needed equipment and supplies are available for Behavioral Aides, completing all prescribed reports/documentation, communicating with other departments/managers/and outside agencies when required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. General Responsibilities:
A. Provides ongoing monitoring and interactions with residents, assist educational staff as needed.
B. Follows schedule per program guidelines.
C. Provides daily assessments of resident’s behavior via daily documentation requirements according to policy and standards
D. Performs hand-off communication at shift change.
E. Assists residents with personal care issues(bathing, using the toilet, and other personal hygiene issues), chores, outings, recreational activities and safety issues as needed.
F. Provides training on basic living skills according to the resident’s treatment goals, as identified by the treatment team.
G. Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation.
H. Applies physical holds and restraints according to SafetyNet Policy and Procedures.
I. Effectively collaborates with the treatment team members.
J. Models appropriate behavior including but not limited to communication skills, grooming, manners, etc.
K. Works with residents and staff to ensure dorm and campus cleanliness to include but is not limited to resident bedrooms, bathrooms, and all common areas.
L. Demonstrates willingness to work with either Moderate or Intensive Program based on SafetyNet needs as directed by the Program Manager.
M. Effectively demonstrates the application of child/adolescent specific competencies.
N. Provides Basic Living Skills groups and other applicable groups as needed per program schedule.
P. Ability to work days, nights and weekends as assigned by manager
