Job Summary**This is a one year limited term appointment to serve providers and families participating in the Early Head Start Family Child Care Partnership throughout Alabama. Continuation of employment is contingent upon the department’s assessment of the continued need for the position and continuation of funding.** This position is located in Tuscaloosa County, AL.
The Family Child Care Partnership program in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies is seeking candidates for the position of Administrator, Outreach Programs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Develop and coordinate the Family and Community Engagement and Special Services programs (Nutrition/Health/Mental Health) for children and families enrolling in the Early Head Start program; meet with clientele as needed to define needs or problem areas; develop and conduct in-service training including program design and delivery; assist in the development of or develop marketing plans and publicity materials for distribution to target audience; manage and assist in the development of budgets and maintain financial records related to the project; develop and maintain database/ to support the Health Program Services aspect of the Early Head Start program included but not limited to: child nutrition, oral health practices, child mental health, family support services for health, nutrition, and mental health; prepare reports as required by program sponsor and other administrative staff; ensure children with special needs are properly identified and linked with local resources for support; work closely with external agencies and internal provider clients to coordinate training and specialized service delivery for special needs children; must establish and maintain a Health Services Advisory Committee that includes Head Start parents, professionals, and other volunteers from the community; train and supervise family and community engagement specialists; maintain appropriate records for each child/family with special needs; report regularly to administrative staff; attend required trainings as directed by administrative staff; work with other staff as directed; collaborate with other staff and agencies as directed. Travel is required including some overnight.
Minimum QualificationsEntry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Public Health, Nutrition, Family and Consumer Sciences, Social Work, Counseling, Dietetic, or a related field; plus 2 years of experience in the design, implementation, delivery and management of educational programs/services involving home-based therapeutic or social services work.
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year
relevant education per year of required experience.
Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of social work and coordination of specialized assistance is required.
Reliable transportation for training and supervision responsibilities required.

Desired QualificationsMaster’s degree from an accredited institution in Public Health, Nutrition, Family and Consumer Sciences, Social Work, Counseling, Dietetic, or a related field.
Familiarity or experience with family child care and/or Early Head Start/Head Start; experience working with families; experience observing, assessing, and providing feedback to adults; experience using ChildPlus; excellent communication and interpersonal skills with service in mind; ability to work with a diverse population in a professional and friendly manner; ability to work independently with limited supervision.
