Job Description

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for receiving, documenting, sorting, pricing, displaying of donated clothing, household items and furniture;

• Keep clothing racks full and neat at all times;

• Responsible for training and supervision of inventory volunteers with regards to duties of pricing, sorting, and etc.;

• Assist the retail associate in the Thrift Store as needed;

• Price items and rotate stock by bringing the old stock forward on the shelves; and

• Clean, sanitize and deodorize rest rooms, offices, and all other areas of the facility;

• Sweep and vacuum carpeting and floors using manual and power equipment;

• Mop, scrub, wax, shampoo, and spot clean carpeting and floors;

• Empty waste cans and make sure area around outside garbage receptacle is neat;

• Clean woodwork, walls, and windows using common household equipment and cleaning products;

• Sweep sidewalks and entrance ways;

• Clean and dust offices;

• Keep garbage area, yard and parking lot clean and maintained

• Keep janitor’s closet/storage areas neat and orderly;

• Perform touch-up painting as required;

• Move office furniture and equipment, assist in moving items to and around the Thrift Store and assist with loading material such as mailings, displays, etc.;

• Perform maintenance tasks as necessary such as replacing filters, bulbs washers, etc;

• Keep equipment and supplies in order;

• Load and unload supplies, equipment and donations;

• Take in all donations which were left the night before, early morning and daily;

• Operate delivery van to pick-up donations, and supplies;

• Properly document pick-up donations and complete appropriate paperwork;

• Perform other duties, verbally and/or in writing, as assigned.


• Lift up to 60 pounds; and
• Communicate, understand and follow oral and written instructions;
• Operate large and small power driven machinery;
• Work with cleaning fluids, chemicals, cleaning agents, or similar solutions;
• Ability to lift arms above shoulders level and to remain in standing position for extended periods;
• Ability to work in inclement weather to a certain degree
• Use common hand tools such as hammers, screw drivers or similar tools;
• Ability to bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time to pick up items;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate working relationship with clients, the general public, and fellow workers; and
• Physically capable of operating the company’s van, possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
