Job Summary** This is a two year limited term position. Continuation of appointment is contingent upon need, performance and funding.**
The Buckley Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences is seeking a full-time Lab Technician. The technician must be familiar with basic molecular biology techniques including PCR, nucleic acid isolation, plasmid design and cloning. Duties will include maintaining marine aquaria and larval cultures. The technician will also be responsible for ordering supplies and managing lab inventory.
Minimum QualificationsEntry into the applicant pool requires a high school diploma or
equivalent plus 1 year of relevant experience performing research in a lab setting to include basic molecular biology and biochemical techniques. The applicant should be organized, communicative and reliable, with ample knowledge of fish husbandry and willingness to work in a diverse work environment. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are required.

When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year
relevant education per year of required experience.

This job requires a person that can provide a high degree of accuracy, reliability, organization, and attention to detail. The employee must provide the highest standard of lab practices.
