Overview

Position is contingent upon award of a Human Lander System Contract

QuantiTech is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Stress Analyst to support our customer in Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

+ Perform preliminary and detailed level stress analysis of spacecraft flight structures and mechanisms, electronic components, and ground and test support equipment using standardized processes and tools

+ Work in a multi-disciplined team environment to help with structural design trades and preliminary and detailed design/analysis activity

+ Work with design engineers in developing type of structure, most practical design, and selection of materials for primary and secondary structures with adequate structural margins of safety, good load paths, low weight, and high producibility

+ Generate stress analysis technical memorandums and reports to support data packages, peer reviews, and external customer reviews

+ Support structural load test definition, requirements development, monitoring, data reduction, and comparison to analysis efforts

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

+ BS degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or other engineering discipline and/or at least 3-5 years of related professional experience

+ Ability to apply advanced analytical techniques, necessary to perform stress analysis

+ Experience with NASTRAN and finite element modeling using NX or equivalent

Desired Skills:

+ Ability to work in a collaborative integrated team environment

+ Academic coursework in advanced mechanics of materials

+ Assume ownership of tasks and drive to closure quickly and efficiently

+ Familiar with non-linear, fracture & fatigue, and buckling analysis

+ Experience with mechanisms, antenna, electronic component, ground support, hoisting, and test support equipment, and composite materials analysis

+ Experience with Abaqus, Matlab, Mathcad and CREO

+ Static, vibration, acoustic, modal, shock test experience of flight hardware

+ Possess strong communication and presentation skills.
