The Family Guidance Center of Alabama is seeking a Life Coaches who assist DHR-referred individuals in attaining education and employment goals through guidance, support, referrals, and linkages with service providers. Home visitation, in-office, and community-based service provisions are expected, with an emphasis on empowering and enabling the participant through emotional support and direction. Life Coaches maintain regular contact with the consumer throughout their time with the program.
Pay Rate: $34,000.00 to $35,000.00 per year.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM. to 4:30 PM.
Helps consumers identify goals, determine action plan, and evaluate their progress using proven coaching methods and through the provision of comprehensive, wrap-around support for the participants. Complete all required documentation and keep accurate and up-to-date records. Maintain carefully documented, accurate case files consistent with program procedures. Collect, report, and document all service provision and evaluation data in a timely and accurate manner, as required. Develop and maintain positive networking/referral with area service providers, including close contact with County DHR referring case managers, as well as, with Family Guidance Center programs and staff. Maintain strict confidentiality of family information consistent with the policies and procedures of Family Guidance Center and the program. Complete other duties, as requested by the Program Director, including professional staff projects such as event coordination, participation in public relations opportunities, agency networking, sponsoring and attending training functions, guest speaking, writing articles and reports, representing the FGC at events, development of training and program materials, and community outreach and development activities. Represent FGC in a professional manner and contribute to the success of the agency.
Requires one year of case file management experience demonstrating the following skill sets: communication skills, time management and organization skills, ability to utilize technology to maintain contact with others, file management
experience, computer skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and having the ability to handle the pressures of a large caseload with professionalism and being a team player. Minimum educational requirement is a bachelor’s degree in social service related field, Master’s preferred, with 1 to 2 years’ experience in direct services to families.
Transportation: Candidates must have reliable personal transportation and be able to travel within a 4-5 county service region. Must maintain a valid, current driver’s license and personal automobile insurance coverage at least to state’s minimum required level. The agency does not permit the transportation of consumers by program staff in personal vehicles.
Training: Must complete initial and on-going training related to job responsibilities. Must not have any past child abuse or neglect reports and/or convictions as evidenced through Alabama Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) registry and criminal background check. Requires a background check.
