- Subject matter experts (PhD or other advanced qualifications) with significant knowledge and experience regarding the design, development and delivery of graduate level lessons and courses to enhance faculty development and performance.
- Must possess ability, knowledge and experience to create and deliver resident, blended and online education modalities.
- Requires mastery of the curriculum design process including effective application of Instructional Systems Design (ISD) to courses, lessons, presentations and training materials. Must possess experience and abilities to review assess, and deliver educational lessons and courses to promote faculty development and instruct personnel on best teaching practices.
3.2. Faculty/Student Development and Curriculum Development. Requires personnel experienced in graduate level education (PhD or other advanced qualifications), for developing and delivering courses, lessons and presentations to improve faculty expertise with respect to teaching, learning technology and instructional design. These will include multi-day courses, single lessons that take 1 to 3 hours and presentations of one hour or less. Topics include teaching theory, teaching methods, assessments, feedback, modern learning models, leveraging learning technology and other similar subjects important to teaching and the instructional design of curriculum.
3.2.1. Develop and/or modify courses per Instructional System Development (ISD) guidelines on designated subject areas to be used in education and training conducted in physical or virtual classroom settings, to include activities such as developing/modifying teaching plans, course outlines, case studies, exercise and faculty development materials, reviewing/updating course Syllabi, identifying and incorporating reference materials, assessments, evaluations, etc.; support development with a detailed management plan (schedule, cost, and performance); author curriculum and/or support curriculum development by providing support to review, validate, research, and update both residence and distance/blended learning materials; organize, story-board, design, and implement course materials; provide support with on-site personnel and/or subject matter experts (SMEs).
3.2.2. As tasked, inform and instruct AUTLC personnel and AU faculty regarding best practices for effective ISD and the latest educational methods, tools and techniques for development of learning objects and training modules.
3.2.3. Assist with the construction and development of faculty orientation and development products for use at the AUTLC and AU schools and programs.
3.2.4. Assist AUTLC in the development and instruction of faculty development lessons, courses and workshops to improve the expertise and capabilities of AU faculty in teaching and curriculum development.
3.2.5. Identify and arrange for presenters to facilitate education; use subject-matter experts, databases, and other sources to identify speakers for relevant topics; plan and execute the logistics of obtaining and hosting appropriate presenters; evaluate presenters; and prepare after-action reports.
3.2.6. Use the full capability of knowledge/course/learning management systems and instructional strategies to provide robust educational opportunities such as scenario-based learning, simulations and gaming, analytical problem solving, social processing and team collaboration, critical thinking exercises, and other strategies for academic degree granting and continuing professional education courses.
