Overview

Our Huntsville Engine Plant is expanding! We are seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop manufacturing processes, process sheets, control plans and layouts for an engine assembly line
  • Works with equipment vendors to specify and quote assembly equipment
  • Managing the selected equipment vendors through the build, installation and commissioning of the production equipment
  • Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations
  • Position will initially provide support in a construction environment with hands-on field support of contractors, OEM’s and Navistar Operations

This position will require extensive time in adverse conditions during the construction phase of the project.
Position Purpose

Develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub assemblies and final assemblies. Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products. Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in product manufacturing

OR

  • Master’s degree
  • At least 3 years of experience in product manufacturing

OR

  • At least 7 years of experience in product manufacturing

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
  • Must be willing to travel internationally.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in the design, selection and implementation of automated engine assembly systems and other IQA (Integrated Quality Assurance) devices.
  • Prior experience in engine assembly.
  • Communication and coordination with Product Development, Manufacturing Operations, Quality and Equipment OEM’s.
  • Prior experience with contractor management of assembly system installations.
  • Experience with DFMEA analysis and PFMEA creation and maintenance.
  • Experience in the development of process sheets, control plans, work instructions and PPAP documentation.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technology
