Job Description

LOCATION:

The ERC Engineering Technician will support the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC) Weapons Development and Integration Directorate (WDI) located on Redstone Arsenal, AL neighboring Huntsville, AL.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Electronics Engineering Technician will provide an array of support for the research and development of propulsion technology. The technician will provide technical support to engineers working in the area of propulsion testing. The technician shall have a skillset focused on electrical duties, such as placement and utilization of pressure transducers and thermocouples. The technician will work from schematics, diagrams, engineering drawings, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform installation, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting functions on electrical components and equipment. Daily responsibilities include transporting hazardous materials; housekeeping at static test and storage facilities; data acquisition systems installation, checkout, troubleshooting; fabricating and setting up cables for instrumentation and data acquisition; fabrication of breadboard components; performing instrumentation calibration and test data checkouts. The Technician may assist with data evaluation, interpretation, and documentation of different types of high performance missile propulsion systems including solid, liquid, air breathing, and electric propulsion systems. The technician may be required to maintain MS Excel spreadsheets for parts and inventory ordering, coordinate and handle and disposing of hazardous materials in support of operations, troubleshoot both electrical and mechanical problems, stock new and spare parts, and maintain supplies in support of existing and new projects. The candidate may attend fork lift training to become properly certified and may then use forklifts to move heavy objects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates degree or equivalent years’ experience required. Must be willing to work with, around, and handle explosives and hazardous chemicals while using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided, and previous education or experience in electronics is desired. Since the job will entail working with hazardous materials, strong attention to detail is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain Forklift Certification, if necessary, and other licenses and certifications, as required. Must be capable of lifting heavy objects. Must possess electrical technician skills and must understand or be willing to cross-train to learn and perform other technician skillsets and duties, as assigned. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be a self-starter. Although not expected, travel may be required approximately 10% of the time
