Job Description/Essential Functions:

Position Description:

As a Computed Tomography Technician (CT), for the Engineering Service and Science Capability Augmentation (ESSCA) contract, you will support the Nondestructive Evaluation team as part of the EM21 Damage Tolerance Branch.


CTs responsibilities include:

  • Evaluation of development articles as well as test and flight hardware
  • Operate CT scanner to produce an internal structural image by taking sequential, repetitive x-ray images along the length of an object. These images will represent an individual layer of the total picture.
  • Work with engineers to produce the 3-D image for easier viewing of internal structures, specifically looking for cracks or voids utilizing a 2-MeV linear accelerator to view through a dense material.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree preferred or
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent with 4 years’ equivalent experience
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

Desired Experience:

Additional Skills Desired:

  • Radiation safety
  • Image Processing (Geomagic and VG Studios to evaluate CT images)
  • Computed Tomography knowledge
  • NDE trainee or Level 1 or 2 in one or more standard methods (Radiographic, Penetrant, Eddie Current, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle)
  • Experience in nonstandard NDE methods such as shearography, thermography, acoustic emission
