Position Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible to generate, cultivate, and expand opportunities for long term growth of Neptune’s portfolio of Software products. Reporting to the Manager of Product Strategy, she or he will lead and coordinate marketing efforts to investigate new market and product opportunities. This individual will establish key partnerships and alliances with other organizations and identify and evaluate potential targets for mergers and acquisitions. He or she will leverage the expertise, infrastructure, intellectual property, and/or customers of partner organizations to achieve organizational strategic objectives for growth.


New Business Development – Leads marketing efforts to investigate new market and/or product opportunities to grow Neptune’s portfolio of Software products. Performs competitive analysis, tracks industry & macro-economic trends and maintains extensive knowledge of market conditions. Working together with Product Marketing and with Product Management, quantifies opportunities, identifies critical product requirements and develops business plans in support of the organization’s strategy and goals. Collaborates cross functionally to drive make vs. buy vs. partner decisions.

New Partner Development – Identifies and develops new partners to help grow overall software product delivery capabilities. Ensures the expertise, infrastructure, intellectual property and customers for partner organizations are aligned with Neptune company vision and strategy.

Alliance Partner Management – Maintains partner relationships as the primary point of contact to Neptune stakeholders. Monitors account strategies and communication, coordinating partner and internal resources to support sales planning efforts and to drive revenue and profitability associated with partner products and services. This role does not close sales or secure direct leads to hand to the sales team.


Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or Computer Science. MBA is plus. Pragmatic Marketing certification is a plus.

Experience: 10+ years of related experience. Water/Utility Industry experience is a plus.

Skills: Career-level professional within field; highly skilled in Business Development. Analytical mind and strong quantitative and problem solving skills. Positive attitude and learning ability. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written). Excellent management skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross functional teams, and third parties.

Location: Tallassee, Alabama or Duluth, Georgia. 25-30 % Travel Required.
