We are seeking an HDD Foreman candidate with experience in telecommunications, underground work to lead a construction crew. We have multiple roles that is based in Birmingham, Al, Tuscaloosa, Al, and Montgomery, Al. Essential functions: (based upon the level of position, not all functions may apply) Directional Drilling Foreman shall provide guidance and coordinate the activities of an HDD construction crew. Seeking a candidate with the ability to locate/operate, trench, place duct, pull cable, and direct bury main-line and drops. Locate and verify all utilities before construction. Maintain and/or repair our customer’s telecommunications facilities. At minimum, the position requires a good working knowledge of telecommunications construction: familiarity with JT20 Horizontal Directional Drills, not Vermeer, ability to use cable placement equipment and tools, ability to identify and troubleshoot problems, and individuals must be able to read prints and have knowledge of the underground process. Qualifications: (based upon the level of position, not all may apply): A good work ethic must have good communication skills and a positive attitude, the ability to manage and direct an UG crew, valid US Driver’s License, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to work safely, with or without supervision. Must be willing to take 11-Panel Drug Test. Ability to operate equipment, including, but not limited to, directional drills, locating systems, trencher, backhoe, and excavators. Abide all companies and manufacturer safety procedures and industry safety standards.The driller will maintain bore profile plots and provide customers with directional drilling data. Qualifications (Operator): must have at least 2 years of Directional Drilling experience as the Operator. Additional operator experience for backhoe or excavator is a plus. All applicants must be comfortable digging or drilling around existing working underground facilities. Working Environment: the employee will be exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Working hours are typically 5 days per week and 8 hours per day, but from time to time, may require 6 days per week and/or extended hours. Physical demands: the position requires lifting heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Will be pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects; using abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support. Must have good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and balance.
