In anticipation of NASA awarding the Human Landing System (HLS) contract in the near future, Dynetics Space Systems Division is seeking qualified engineers and analysts to support NASA programs including HLS that will put the first woman and next man on the Moon. We are seeking project engineers, systems engineers, test engineers, electrical/mechanical engineers, stress/structural engineers, and analysts to join a diverse team in support of the development of a Human Lander System that will take us back to the surface of the Moon by 2024.

TheManufacturing Engineerswill support the Dynetics Space Systems Division with development of HLS with primary responsibility for directing the manufacture of one or more critical components and/or subsystems. Candidates will work in a team environment to support conceptual design through product implementation.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Developing tooling concepts required for manufacturing and for coordinating with the tooling team on design and fabrication
+ Creating work instructions and work orders for production processes/assemblies
+ Overseeing manufacturing activities and providing input during the fabrication and assembly processes
+ Providing technical expertise into the design of the components and assemblies to maximize first-unit quality and minimize cost
+ Evaluating alternative manufacturing and assembly processes to improve quality and cost
+ Leading layout of the production facility, analyzing and planning workflow, and planning equipment needs and layout
+ Specifying, evaluating, and implementing capital equipment for production processes
+ Developing error-proofing techniques to minimize risk and assure build quality
+ Leading root cause assessments of manufacturing issues in development and production
Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.
Candidate must have at least five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Candidates must have knowledge of and experience with complex system engineering practices and processes, including the product development cycle through qualification and production.
Candidates must have experience with thermal, fluid, and mechanical system manufacturing.
Candidates must have experience with new part introduction and creating manufacturing processes.
Candidates must have must have demonstrated understanding of lean manufacturing and its application to low volume production.
Candidates must have experience with training technicians and others in correct build techniques.
Candidates must be familiar with the use of process failure modes analysis to reduce risk to manufacturing processes.
Candidates must have completed formal GD&T training.
Candidates must have experience working in a research and development (R&D) environment.
Candidate must be able to write clear, concise, and comprehensive technical reports and present results to multi-disciplinary teams and customer stakeholders.
Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating both verbally and in writing.
Candidate must be able to write technical reports and to present results to a multi-disciplined team.
Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama, AL area.
Preference will be shown to candidates who have experience and/or knowledge of the following:
+ NASA, DoD, or commercial space system development projects
+ Manufacture of environmental, mechanical, and/or electrical hardware systems for NASA, DoD, or commercial programs
+ NASA engineering practices and processes
+ Serving as manufacturing lead on previous space system development programs
+ Developing new hardware and new program startup operations
Candidate must be a US Citizen.
Candidate must possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
