Employer Information:

Zirlott Trawlers, Inc. located in Coden, AL, Mobile County is hiring, and has a seasonal need for 4 Fishers & Related Fishing Workers for temporary work from 04/01/2020 to 12/31/2020 in to fish in the Gulf of Mexico, Zone EEZ and off the Coast of Alabama aboard a shrimp fishing vessel or at the dock (land) at the employer’s address.

Job Description:

Job Duties: Prepare trawler for fishing activities; using and placing nets into water and retrieving them; sorting and heading shrimp using handheld tools such as knives; place shrimp into containers and ice down shrimp to preserve catch.

Pay Details:

Job pays $15.86 per hour. Overtime hours vary at Overtime rate of $23.79 per hour. Employer will pay prevailing wage or a % of catch, whichever is greater. No Per Diem. Job pays every two weeks. Employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Employer will make all necessary deductions from paychecks required by law. In case of Advances, pay deductions will be reflected in Crew Settlement Sheet given with check.

Requirements:

No experience required. No minimum education required.

Work Schedule:

Full-Time position 40 hours per week and up to 18 hours of overtime available. Monday through Friday and sometimes weekends. Schedules vary and are mainly day to early evening shifts all between the hours of 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM with a 1-hour break in between an 8-hour shift. Trips out to fish may be several weeks to several months depending on the catch.

Other Details:

Employer provides at no charge all food and lodging and other facilities such as restroom, place to cook meals in the shrimp boat vessel, and a place to do laundry at the dock at the employer’s address. Employer lodging & facilities are optional. Employer will provide the workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job. If the workers complete 50% of the work contract period, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for the worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker would return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $12.46 per day during travel to a maximum of $55 per day with receipts. Employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths ¾ of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. Employer will reimburse foreign workers in the first workweek for all visa processing, border crossing, and related fees, including those mandated by the government incurred by the foreign worker.
