Position Description

Dynetics Technical Solutions (DTS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dynetics, Inc., is seeking a talented Mechanical Assembly Lead to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics Technical Solutions provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

TheMechanical Assembly Leadwill be responsible for performing mechanical assembly of components into large aircraft and structures per NASA, DoD, and aircraft industry standards. Performs fit-up and hand drilling using jigs and templates. Installs fasteners including bolts, screws, and solid and expandable rivets. Applies touch-up and stencil paint using hand-held spraying equipment. Measures parts and assemblies using standard measuring equipment including scales, tape measures, micrometers and calipers.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

+ Assists in the development and maintenance of internal materials and process specifications through a working knowledge of industry standards and a wide range of large structural components.

+ Assists in the implementation of large structural components process development and production transition planning that meets quality, production rate, startup time, and margin requirements.

+ Must apply knowledge of product design, assembly, tooling, process of large structural components materials while working to develop or improve structural components manufacturing processes.

+ Complete all planning paperwork throughout the production process.

+ Assists in directing the work of the large structural components to shop technicians.

+ Ensures department production schedules are adhered to.

+ Performs in-process and final product inspections and signs off on appropriate quality documents as required.

+ Suggests and performs engineering tool and product modifications as directed by engineering/management.

+ Maintain project work areas by directing maintenance and cleaning.

+ Provides training and mentoring to large structural components to shop employees.

+ Ensures that proper documentation is made on training record for training received, and signed by the Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.

+ Helps monitor inventories and supplies and ensures correct usage.

+ Understands process and quality procedures and communicates them to less experienced team members.

+ Communicates with supervisors, managers and quality about issues effecting quality of productivity.

+ Complies with all Company policies, procedures and regulations.


Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s of Science or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.

In lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of one (1) years of technical school training in a mechanical discipline is required.

Candidate must also have at least five (5) years of prior experience in assembling large hardware items for DoD or aerospace.

Candidate must have demonstrated ability with hand tools including drills, grinders, wrenches and screwdrivers, impact rivet guns, rivet puller.

Candidate must be able to read and interpret drawings/prints, specifications and work instructions.

Candidate must be to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.

Candidate must have experience with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and CAD software tools.

Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications

Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge of:

+ Training others in aerospace structural assembly techniques

+ Thermoset or injection plastic molding equipment

Candidate must be a US Citizen.

Candidate must possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
