Alabama Joblink is a site where job seekers, employers and others can use labor exchange functions and find labor market information about Alabama. We believe that those that use our site will find it beneficial and we urge everyone to use and enjoy the website. Our site is based on interactive online media and we want all of our users to know how to safeguard information and their privacy when on the web.
Our site is comprised of several components. The first major component is Job Match. This interactive web application, known as Alabama Joblink, is created to bring Alabama's jobseekers and employers together. A jobseeker can post and update a personal resume and an employer can post and update job listings. Matches are made between jobseekers and employers based on resume and job opening classifications using standard occupation codes and providing an analysis of how well the jobseekers' experience, education, and skills align with the qualifications that employers are seeking in their job postings. Jobseekers and employers may also contact one another directly via e-mail to pursue application for open job positions.
The second major component is Case Management. This interactive web application allows workforce development professionals to track their clients and to report the information required under the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and other major federally funded employment and training programs. Known as ServiceLink, it provides a standardized system for following participants through the workforce development service network. Case managers can manage and monitor caseloads by determining WIOA eligibility, assessing employment barriers, establishing training, service and employment plans, searching for service and WIOA certified training providers, and tracking expenditures and job placements. ServiceLink then uses that information to create the reports required by the federal government under WIOA.
Either component can be used independently of the other. Those using the Job Match component only are not tracked in the Case Management component and those entered into the Case Management component only do not have an active resume in the Job Match component. We are committed to maintaining the privacy of personal and private information that you provide in creating accounts, resumes and job listings and in using our website.
What Information Is Collected?
We ask for and collect information from you in different ways. If you are a user of Job Match, when you create your account you provide certain personally identifying information such as your name, business name, address and telephone numbers and e-mail address. You may create an electronic resume or job listing to be stored online with us in which we collect basic profile information. While the registration process includes items such as citizen, gender, race, Social Security Number, FEIN, SEIN, and age, this information is only used to fulfill reporting requirements and is not released.
We automatically collect IP addresses and web site usage information when you visit our web site. This information helps us evaluate how our visitors use and navigate our web site on an aggregate basis, including the number and frequency of visitors to each web page, and the length of their visits. When you use some of the site's features, such as creating an account, completing a Resume, or reporting client activities, we will collect personally identifiable information from you that may include your name, age, address, e-mail address, and facts about your career and interests as well as similar information. We do not, however, knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of thirteen.
We may pass cookies to your computer. Cookies are information files that your web browser places on the hard drive of your computer or temporarily in your computer's memory when you visit the website. Cookies cannot damage user files nor can they read information from a user's hard drive. At Alabama Joblink, cookies are used to maintain your session as you move through our pages. When you visit our site, Alabama Joblink sets a cookie that works like an identification card. Every time you make a page request from that point on, this "ID Card" cookie is sent back to us. We can then use this "ID Card" to customize the site to your information to best meet your needs.
Alabama Joblink collects aggregate log data including such items as the number of job searches performed, or the number of times an individual job order is viewed. This data contains no personal information, and is used only as an overall performance indicator for the site. The Alabama Joblink error logging system, however, will collect your username with any error that occurs, as a means to help our technical staff understand the error.
How is this Information Used?
Some of the data that we collect is used in the aggregate to allow us to better understand how our service is used. We do not disclose information about individual visits or share other private information with outside parties without prior authorization from the individual and will not use this data for any commercial purpose. The principal use of information is for the purposes for which you specifically provided the information in Job Match or Case Management. Information collected is used to create a personal profile or job listing to post in our searchable database on our servers. Once you send your contact and other information to an employer or recruiter, we are not responsible for the retention, use or privacy practices of that employer or recruiter. The user may choose to restrict the display of personally identifiable information in Job Match by selecting the level of disclosure. This way personally identifying information or access to all account information can be limited. The user can also access, amend or delete any part of the Job Match account.
How is Data Secured?
To ensure that personally identifiable information collected in Job Match and Case Management is protected, Alabama Joblink has implemented security measures that include limiting the people who have physical access to our database servers, installing electronic security using 128 byte encryption SSL and individual password protection to guard against unauthorized access for all accounts. Only the user or third parties that the user has provided a password can access the user's account. Please remember that you play a valuable part in security as well. After you have finished using your account, you should log off and exit your browser so no unauthorized persons can access your account information. Alabama Joblink provides links to other websites that may have their own information collection practices. These other websites are governed by their own privacy policies or information collection practices, which may be substantially different from ours. We encourage visitors to other websites to review the privacy policies and information collection practices of those websites. Finally, you should be aware that if you voluntarily disclose to others personally identifiable information such as user name, e-mail address, or other messages from Alabama Joblink, that information can be collected and used by third parties without our knowledge and may result in unsolicited messages from other individuals or third parties. Such activities are beyond our control.
Alabama Joblink may amend this policy from time to time. If we make any substantial changes in the way we use your personal information we will notify you by posting a prominent announcement on our pages.
